National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC) updated Platelet Shortage Plan

The platelet shortage plan operates similarly to the red cell shortage plan with three phases dependent on NHSBT stock levels - Green, Amber and Red. As with the red cell plan, actions listed in the green phase are focused on preparation of arrangements for shortages and implementing appropriate use recommendations. The plan sets out key actions for both NHSBT and hospitals.
