Implementation Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) typing by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
Part of H&I's continuous improvement programme
As part of H&I's continuous improvement programme our laboratories have been working towards implementing HLA typing by NGS in routine use. The benefit of using this technology allows immediate identification of a HLA high resolution typing result without the need for other tests to be performed.
There are no changes to how you refer investigations and we do not envisage any changes to your associated documentation. However, from 13 August 2019, our HLA typing reports will look slightly different.
We have ensured the introduction of NGS will not have a detrimental effect on our turn-around times.
Further information regarding this test is available in our user guide or please do not hesitate to contact us on HINATNL@nhsbt.nhs.uk with any questions.
