You must telephone your RCI laboratory to request urgent testing
if results are required within 5 working days or if a cross match is required
24 February 2023
It is important you telephone the laboratory (both during and outside of routine working hours) to advise:
- immediate requirement and urgency
- patient’s condition
- patient's current haemoglobin level
- patient's transfusion and/or obstetric history
- patient's drug history (if relevant)
- transfusion requirement (special requirements etc)
- serological findings
We ask you to telephone (telephoning the lab is stated on the 1A test request form, and included in the RCI user guide) so we can prioritise urgent work: if you don't telephone, your request may be delayed.
