NBTC Plasma Shortage Plan and EBMA Checklist

The National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC) has published a plasma shortage plan. The publication completes a suite of shortage plans covering red cells, platelets (both updated last month) and now plasma.

Each of the plans now have clear actions to be taken in a pre-amber state, which is the current situation. 

The Emergency Blood Management Arrangements (EBMA) checklist has been updated to reflect key actions in the plasma shortage plan.

Please take the opportunity to review the new shortage plans and update your emergency blood management arrangements.
