Clinical Audit within NHSBT
The aim of clinical audit within NHSBT is to measure the gap between ideal practice (determined from evidence-based standards or guidelines) and actual practice. NHSBT does not use clinical audit to apportion blame or seek out individual bad practice, rather it aims to create a learning culture within which healthcare professionals can take responsibility for their own performance. Effective clinical audit can bring about change and improve practice.
Collaborative audit with hospitals
NHSBT undertakes internal clinical audits that may occasionally require collaboration with hospitals. In these instances, the data collected is stored and handled in line with MPD406 - Undertaking Clinical Audit Involving Third Party Organisations which can be found on the publications page.
