Filton Development

Introduction to the Filton development

The development of a new, state-of-the-art blood centre in Filton, Bristol is a key feature of NHS Blood & Transplant’s strategy to modernise the service and meet future demand. As part of this strategy blood processing and testing from across Birmingham and the South West are being consolidated into the new blood centre.

The new £60 million centre is due be completed in June 2008 will become fully operational by June 2009. The Filton blood centre is one of the most tangible signs of change within the National Blood Service and an example of the way in which the Service is evolving.”
